The Story of the most Iconic bag: The Chanel 2.55

Without any doubt the Chanel 2.55 bag is the most iconic bag of the world.

The bag takes its name from the year of its birth, 1955 and is made from silk, lambskin, calfskin or fur, in a combination of colors. Whilst today, it has been updated in various guises (including the fastenings) the iconic Chanel 2.55 is still instantly recognizable, and remains one of the world’s most sought after bags.

The bag was designed originally in black lambskin with burgundy leather inside. The bag has a hidden pocket inside specially designed by Coco to keep loveletters!Doesn´t that sound romantic? I can´t remember the day I got a Loveletter!!! Nowadays loveletters are send by ping via the Blackberry or texted;)..Loveletters..those were the days…I remember having a penpal from Australia who used to send me loveletters; scented loveletters with “Coolwater of Davidoff” (this was soooooo long ago but I still remember the sexy smelling letters;))…Ok..I got carried away..sorry: back to 2.55

The 2.55 is also the most copied bag. Not only by “fake bag making companies” but also a great inspiration for designers as Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Lanvin..
