Christian Dior opened the Couture Fashion Week in Paris.
All eyes were on Dior as this Couture collection was the first in 14 years that was not designed by John Galliano. The disgraced creative head was fired by Dior for his ‘odious behaviour’ in March after news broke of an alleged anti-semitic attack in a Paris bar.
Instead it was 51-year-old Bill Gaytten – part of the design team at
Dior for 23 years – and head of the label’s studio – who took a bow at the end of the show yesterday, along with his assistant, Susanna Venegas.
The collection looked like an explosion of candy-like colours which I find remarkably refreshing for a winter collection…often enough Winter collections are in darker colours..
We were pleasantly surprised by this new collection of Dior and we would like to salute Bill Gaytten for the fun and well-designed colour outburst!
